Travellers' site plans in spotlight (Leicester Mercury, Saturday, January 03)
A council has called a short-notice meeting to discuss proposals for a new travellers' site on its doorstep.
Groby Parish Council said they hoped the event will address the "anger and anxiety felt by the community" about a potential transit site close to the village.
The meeting, which will be attended by Charnwood MP Stephen Dorrell, will be held at 8pm on Thursday, in the Groby Community College drama studio.
It comes after the Leicester Mercury was handed a document showing potential sites last month, including one in Groby, when it was left behind after a briefing for borough councillors.
Groby Parish Council has been at loggerheads over the right to discuss the secret plans and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council (HBBC) has previously written to them saying public meetings may "create concern where none is necessary".

HBBC said the paperwork is confidential so should not be discussed until documents are released later this month and an official consultation starts.
Parish council leader Peter Batty said: "Due to the refusal of Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council of a request to reveal exact details of the 'preferred option', there has been a great deal of speculation."
