Groby Residents Action Group New Year’ Eve Festive Buffet Wednesday 31st December 2008
Groby Residents Action Group
New Year’ Eve Festive Buffet
Wednesday 31st December 2008 at 51 Stamford Drive, Groby
(7.30pm onwards till late)
Following the Hinckley & Bosworth Borough Council meeting to be held on 20th January 2009 our community may be faced with a huge and daunting challenge if the Borough Council presses ahead with identifying Groby as its’ “preferred option” for a Gypsy/Traveller transit site.
So far, an enthusiastic and hardworking group of Groby residents has been working tirelessly to alert local residents to the potential threat to the wellbeing of our village and our families.
They have spent many hours delivering their leaflets, knocking on doors and erecting posters protesting and expressing the feelings of the vast majority of Groby residents, not only have they spent a lot of their own time but also their own money on printing leaflets and making up banners.
If the Council pushes ahead with its’ proposals, we face a series of battles before the final outcome is made known in late 2010 and I know the group which is now getting properly organised needs to raise funds to have banners professionally produced and to fund future leaflets.
Therefore, as a small contribution to help start their fund raising drive, my wife Jac has decided to host a New Years Eve Party/Festive Buffet for supporters of the campaign who may be at a loose end on New Year’s Eve, as an initial Fund Raiser for the group.
Anyone who has come along to one of our “open house” events will tell you that Jac is a good host and always provides a good meal or a good buffet and no one should go home hungry.
We propose to make a nominal charge of £5 per person for what should be an entertaining and enjoyable evening. Trust me, you will get good value for your money and all proceeds without deduction of any expenses will be donated by Jac to the “Groby Fighting Fund”.
Jac needs to get an idea of numbers, to know how many to cater for, so please call her on 0116 291 2284 or email her at jac.batty@ntlworld.com
Tickets £5 per person inc soft drinks (only from Jac)
(please bring your own wine etc, glasses & corkscrews provided)
