Re: HBBC Council Agenda 20/1/09 (LDF Site Allocation Documents!!!)
Hmmm. A bit confusing.
Page 63 of the fetchily-titled Consultation Draft Site Allocations and Generic Development Control Policies Development Plan Document - Preferred Options Report says "Option 1 - Land to the east of Sacheverell Way: This area of land is less desirable as it is less related to the existing built form of Groby and breaches Sacheverell Way which acts as a physical barrier. The topography of this area is also problematic with the site sloping downwards towards the A46."
And yet the table on page 62 of the same document has "GRO23 - Land to the east of Sacheverell Way - Gypsy and Traveller Transit Site (up to 10 caravans)."
It also mentions "The option to locate a gypsy and traveller transit site (for up to ten caravans) to the west of Sacheverell Way..." - even though there is no plan for a site to the west of the road.
They seem to be presenting themselves with additional reasons why Groby shouldn't have the transit site!
They even say, "Transit sites should be situated in locations... where the movement of caravans will not provide a nuisance to existing residents..." Have they ever seen the number of vehicles that use Sacheverell Way?!
And I'd just love to see the developers sell the proposed housing allocation to the south of Leicester Road if the alternative residential pitch site goes there instead!
We need to ensure the Council understands there is another alternative - put the site somewhere that's safer for residents and travellers and where travellers would have access to health and educational facilities that simply don't exist in Groby. When do we start a group campaigning for HIN84?!
